AIOTI WG Mobility published the AIOTI Vision Paper IoT and Edge Computing powered Smart Mobility in Europe.

This White Paper intends to show trends and lay down a vision for IoT and Edge Computing to boost developments and deployments of smart mobility in Europe.

This paper investigates the transformative potential of the IoT and edge computing to shape the future of smart mobility. We consider the power and consequences of integrating IoT devices by the key smart vehicle stakeholders, enabling real-time data sharing across the user spectrum. We also cover the progression of V2X communication from 5G to 6G, which has the potential to drive seamless interaction between vehicles and their environment. This is supplemented by considering the concept of the Spatial Web, a next-generation web infrastructure that will transform mobility experiences.

As those activities are major sources of data, we investigate the Mobility Data Space, a secure platform for managing the massive amounts of data created by smart mobility devices. Usage of relevant data drives the growth of Mobility Services, which include both MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and shared mobility solutions. Finally, we discuss the vital element of road safety and how these improvements might help create a safer transportation landscape.
