AIOTI adds “Edge Computing” to its official name and to its branding
BRUSSELS, BE: Today, the Alliance for IoT and Edge Computing Innovation (AIOTI) is glad to announce that its General Assembly unanimously voted in favour of adding “Edge Computing” to its official name (N.B. acronym will remain the same – AIOTI). Formerly known for its specific focus on the Internet of Things, AIOTI decided to have formal recognition, even within its branding, that IoT and Edge Computing are strongly interconnected.
This step is a crucial milestone for the organisation that, since 2019, has adapted its Vision and Mission, confirming AIOTI’s interests in IoT as well as Edge Computing and convergence alongside of the computing continuum (IoT, connectivity, Edge, AI).
AIOTI continues to aim leading, promoting, bridging and collaborating in IoT and Edge Computing and other converging technologies research and innovation, standardisation and ecosystem building, providing IoT and Edge Computing deployment for European businesses creating benefits for European society.
AIOTI Chair, Jürgen Sturm, commented on this change: “It is an important step for our organisation. We want to send a message to all our ecosystem, to our institutional partners: the debate on data processing and on data storage is more compelling than ever, Edge Computing is an integral part of this discussion and AIOTI is ready to be part of it!”. He continues: “On beath of AIOTI, I would like to thank our 200 members for actively promoting this change and for positioning AIOTI to the forefront of IoT and Edge Computing Innovation”.
