AIOTI organised a webinar on 17 April 2023 to present two reports od the WG Standardisation:
a new report “IoT and Edge Computing EU funded projects landscape”. The full report can be found here.
The report provides landscapes of EU funded projects focusing on IoT and edge computing.
The main objective of this deliverable is to briefly present the EU funded projects focusing on IoT and edge computing, which can be used to:
the third release of the report IoT LSP Standard Framework Concepts. The full document can be found here.
The report introduces IoT Standards Developing Organisation (SDO), Alliance and Open Source Software (OSS) landscapes to be used as input for the recommendations for Large Scale Pilots (LSPs) standard framework and gap analysis.
The webinar presentation can be found here and the recording of the webinar is here.
The Semantic Interoperability Focus Group of the AIOTI Standardization Working Group has created an online version of its Ontology Landscape. This version provides information about relevant IoT ontologies at your fingertip. You find key information about each ontology, including its maintenance and technology readiness level, and you can directly download the ontology file itself.
Consortium Ubiquitous Technologies
At the end of this month, AIOTI has 191 members.
AIOTI WG Standardisation has published Release 2 of the report “IoT and Edge Computing impact on Beyond 5G: enabling technologies and challenges”.
This report highlights several IoT vertical domain use cases collected by the Alliance for IoT and Edge Computing Innovation (AIOTI) and determines the specific requirements they impose on the underlying (Beyond) 5G network infrastructure.
These use cases and requirements can be used by Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), such as 3GPP, ITU-T, ISO, and IEEE as requirements for automation in vertical domains focusing on critical communications.
In addition to these use cases also emerging topics in the area of (Beyond) 5G technology are as well introduced.
The Release 2.0 version of this report includes 6 additional use cases in the areas of: (1) use of drones, (2) 5G cloud-RAN, (3) Health-Critical Remote Operations, (4) preliminary 6G use cases.
The full report can be found here.
During this month, AIOTI representatives participated and speak at the following events:
1st Roundtable of ICT Empowers Green Development, Barcelona, 1 March
Damir Filipovic, AIOTI Secretary General presented at the roundtable the key findings of the AIOTI report IoT and Edge Computing Carbon Footprint Measurement Methodology.
DATES Workshop Artificial Intelligence for Public & Tourism Sectors, Faro, Portugal, 8 March
Several AIOTI members were presenting at this workshop related to the EU funded project on the European Data Spaces in Tourism.
On 23 March 2023, the EUCloudEdgeIoT initiative hosted the fifth and final event of the first wave of Value Chain Adopter workshops , organised by the project UNLOCK-CEI and analysing the landscape of Cloud-Edge-IoT (CEI) applications in the energy industry. The workshop was structured in two parts, the first being focused on presentation about trends and initiatives in the energy value network, including mentioning of use cases in this sector, such as smart grid management, pipeline management, pipeline and facility observation, smart meters, drone-based network.
The workshop hosted a presentation from Natalie Samovic, Chair of WG Energy AIOTI and then focused on collecting insights about challenges and requirements for the development of CEI use cases in this sector. Regulatory aspects and standardisation needs emerged as particularly compelling challenges.

IEEE World IoT Forum 2023, 12-27 October 2023, Aveiro, Portugal
The 9th IEEE World Forum on the Internet of Things (WF-IoT 2023)seeks submissions and proposals for original technical papers and presentations that address the Internet of Things (IoT), its theoretical and technological building blocks, the applications that drive the growth and evolution of IoT, operational considerations, experimentation, experiences from deployments, and the impacts of IoT on consumers, the research community, the public sector, and commercial verticals.
The theme for WFIoT2023 is “The Blue Planet: A Marriage of Sea and Space”, encouraging the submissions of content aimed at exploring how IoT technologies, applications, and solutions relying on a wide ecosystem spanning space, aerial, ground, and maritime networks and harnessing the latest emerging technological trends can be leveraged for the benefit of society and humanity.
Papers should address, but are not limited to, the following high-level topics:
Paper submissions for Peer-Reviewed Technical Papers are due on 18 June 2023.
All accepted Peer-Reviewed Technical Papers will be included in the proceedings (IEEE Xplore).
