UN Climate Change Global Innovation Hub (UGIH) organised on 3 December within COP28 conference held in Dubai, UAE the session Innovative Digitally Enabled Green Transition.
In terms of Global Green Industry Development, ICT-based Digital Innovation already have been widely discussed and agreed that it is playing a significant role in empowering Green transition across industries around the world. In particular, more and more digital innovations are emerging in the development and implementation of net zero technologies and circular economies, for example convergence and synergy of Solar-PV and ICT-based digital innovations and applications.
Recap Digital with Purpose /DwP2023 summit, we known UGIH and UTM and GeSI, etc., they gave some constructive guidance as well, for example it should explore how human needs can be met compatibly with a globally sustainable development in a dynamic and systemic Digital Innovation approach to empower Green transition.
However, the big challenge seems still be the lack of Systemic mechanism and Assessment framework and Synergy platform how it can drive the relevant Green Standard evolution and be applied effectively into across global various industries and areas’ Green transition, especially are the Areas where the carbon emissions are in urgently need of improvement.
In the session, speakers presented and discussed more about our future Green Synergy Actions’ initiatives and together to define the next steps:
- Initiatives relevant Green Standard framework to further evolve and expand to regional implementation effectively, for example ITU-T SG5 L.1333 NCIe and L.1480 Empower Green Transition, so on.
- Foster widely discussion in Dynamic and Systemic initiatives how it can be further developed in empowering City Green Transition.
- ICT-based and various approaches and practices, for example Net Zero technology and circular economy, Green Data centre and Campus, Green factory and Smart Solar-PV Plant, how they can be more convergence and synergy in innovation applications and implementation in City Green Transition.
- Showcase key Green innovative solutions, practices and tangible testbeds cooperation from Europe and Asia, so on. It will be beyond to inspire and drive actions to reach a sustainable Green future for all.
- Introduce UGIH Systemic Innovation Workshop and its City Green Transition topic and relevant guide initiatives.
AIOTI was one of the speakers, presented its report IoT and Edge Computing Carbon Footprint Measurement Methodology R2, represented by Damir Filipovic, AIOTI Secretary General.
