On 6 April AIOTI organised a webinar to present the deliverable of WG Agriculture “Role of IoT in addressing the agroecological focus of the Green Deal“.
The workshop presented the recommendations to get the most out of IoT-based smart farming. The focus is put on the need of quantifying/benchmarking the impact and full footprint of IoT and digital solutions in farming, as well as the need for reliable monitoring of target parameters and environmental indicators. Data issues (like compatibility and accessibility) and technology adoption are highlighted as transversal barriers that need to be overcome in order to unleash the full potential of digital solutions. Recommendations were given in the light of the five concrete examples of implemented IoT technology in practice:
Example 1: Disease prediction and supply chain transparency for orchards/vineyards
Example 2: Integrated Plant Protection and decision support systems
Example 3: Digitalising the smart agrifood sector in the Balearic Islands
Example 4: Smart Farming Techniques for Climate Change Adaptation in Cyprus
Example 5: CAP indicators landscape monitoring
