HIGHLIGHTS
AIOTI Webinar presenting The Role of Remote Monitoring Sensors in Health and Well-being paper, 28.10.
On 28 October 2025 the AIOTI WG Health Webinar was held.In this Webinar AIOTI presented the Working Group Health paper: The Role of Remote Monitoring Sensors in Health and Well-being.Technology is quietly revolutionising how we care for ourselves and others. From monitoring chronic conditions at home to predicting falls in elderly patients, these technologies offer real-time insights that empower individuals and caregivers alike. This transformation has been embraced also at the institutional level. European regulatory frameworks like the GDPR and the upcoming AI Act are setting the stage for responsible and ethical deployment of these systems. The promise is clear: remote monitoring sensors are enablers of a healthier, more connected society where health and well-being are continuously supported, regardless of place, age, or ability. Please find here the slides of the presentations and the link to the recording.
SCODIHNet Updates
he Smart Connectivity DIH Network has mainly worked on the following topics
The bi-montly meeting took place on the 9 September 2025, the key take aways are:
The replicability catalogue has been updated, it is now encompassing replicable use cases developed and experimented by SNS JU call 1 and Call 2 projects. Now, the replicability catalogue is containing 1257 replicable use cases coming from IoT Large Scale pilots, 5G PPP projects, NGI projects and SNS JU projects. They are covering most of the verticals with a specific focus on Industry 4.0 and Agriculture.
The replicability of SNS JU projects will be implemented in the SNS JU Vertical Engagement Tracker which is containing all the use cases developed by projects. A specific indication will be introduced to mention the replicability level when available.
Cooperation with the Digital Transformation Accelerator Thematic Working Group on Smart Connectivity is more and more active, a presentation of SCoDIHNet will be done on the 10th September and further discussions will take place in order to better cooperate avoiding gaps and overlaps in the context of the phase 2 of the EDIHs.
A new survey to update the SCoDIHNet member expectations in terms of services will take place in the following months in order to bring the most useful services to members in the context of EDIH 2.0.
Cooperation with the Smart Connectivity Thematic Working Group is still active, SCoDIHNet has been invited to make a new presentation at their meeting on the 10th September to make a presentation of our Replicability initiative. First discussions to merge the 2 groups will start early in October to evaluate the interest of keeping 2 separate groups or to merge them.

PROJECTS NEWS
INSTAR EU-Canada Week, 14-16 October
The European Union (EU) and Canada have long-established agreements, as reiterated in the recent EU-Canada summit (23/06/2025), that underpin a strong and forward-looking cooperation for the digital era. These include the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which facilitates trade and investment, and the EU-Canada Digital Partnership, launched to enhance collaboration on digital policy and technology governance. Such agreements reflect the EU and Canada’s shared commitment for a secure, inclusive, and human-centric digital transformation, that will enable them to maintain their sovereignty and competitiveness among technological and geopolitical shifts. In line with the EU International Digital strategy, the European Union will continue to promote its values-based approach on digital governance and digital standards to shape a global digital transformation that is human-centric, trustworthy, and respects human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Ahead of the first EU-Canada Digital Partnership Council, anticipated later this year, The INSTAR EU-Canada Week on ICT Standardisation, co-organised with the Digital Governance Council, builds on this strong policy foundation through a series of expert-led workshops aimed at aligning approaches to international ICT standards. Organised by INSTAR, with the support of the European Commission (EC), EU Delegation in Canada, ETSI and CEN CENELEC, this initiative seeks to strengthen the EU and its international like-minded partners’ influence in global ICT standardisation, while promoting inclusive, human-centric, transparent, and interoperable standards.
By bringing together domain experts, industry stakeholders, policymakers and standards bodies from both jurisdictions, and beyond, the EU-Canada Digital Partnership Week will serve as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and joint action. It will reinstate shared priorities, as identified in the EU-Canada Digital Partnership, address standardisation challenges, and contribute to a more harmonised and resilient global digital ecosystem, anchored in democratic values and technological excellence.
The sessions aim to identify concrete opportunities to scale up existing and emerging joint initiatives, while laying the groundwork for sustained, long-term cooperation between the EU and Canada.
The EU-Canada Week explored standardisation challenges across three key technology domains: Dataspaces, Cloud-Edge-IoT (CEI) and Quantum technologies. More information and presented slides can be found here.

European Data Space Awards 2025
Data is one of Europe’s greatest economic assets. This is why the upcoming European Data Union strategy aims to establish a genuine internal market for data, enabling the EU to scale up AI development effectively. In Europe, data is widely distributed across numerous public and private stakeholders within the Digital Single Market. European industrial data markets are central to this ecosystem, and their success will depend on instruments that guarantee trust, ensure data sovereignty, and deliver a fair distribution of the value generated from data use.
In this context, the European Data Spaces Awards are launched with the objective of promoting the best-in-class European data sharing initiatives. Highlighting the achievements of selected initiatives will help to increase visibility and promote best practices that can guide others. This yearly award celebrating best practices will encourage the community to grow and improve. This first edition, the European Data Spaces Awards 2025, is organised in two different categories.
The Awards are closely aligned with the Maturity Model for Common European Data Spaces to further help promoting the underlying concepts and values. The Awards are organised by the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) in collaboration with the European Commission.
Application period: September 23rd to November 7th, 2025
Announcement of the nominees per award: December 17th, 2025
