AIOTI provided a feedback to the Industrial Accelerator Act.
AIOTI welcomes the European Commission’s Industrial Accelerator Act and supports its ambition to accelerate industrial decarbonisation while enhancing Europe’s competitiveness. The organisation highlights the crucial role of digital technologies including IoT, AI, digital twins, advanced connectivity, and industrial data spaces in reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency, and enabling more resilient industrial operations. AIOTI also calls for greater support for interoperability, secure data sharing, digital infrastructure, and SMEs to ensure the successful deployment of digital and green technologies across Europe.

The Smart Connectivity DIH Network has mainly worked on the following topics:

A specific session on Smart connectivity was co-organised with the Smart Connectivity Thematic WG with a focus on using experimental infrastructures to develop innovative use cases in the context of “test before invest”
The aim of this session is to transform the group’s collective knowledge into an actionable network map through a structured “I have / I am looking for” marketplace. Following last year’s feedback, which highlighted a strong desire for more active networking and ecosystem visibility, this session moves away from the traditional lecture format. Its purpose is to utilise the rare in – person meeting time to build a “human database” of capabilities; while identifying the specific partners or knowledge they need to better serve their local SMEs and fulfil cross – border KPIs
Another point is the organisation of a contest where 69 success stories where summited, 3 of them got an award, they are all using 5G.
2/ Still collecting replicable use cases from SNS JU projects, the replicability catalog is updated accordingly. Now it contains 177 replicable use cases developed by SNS JU projects and covering most of the verticals. These replicable use cases are also available in the Vertical Engagement Tracker (https://sns-trackers.sns-ju.eu/vertical-engagement-tracker/v…)

INSTAR Final Event
The INSTAR Final Event took place on 23 June 2026 from 15:30 to 18:00 at AFNOR in Paris. Co-located with the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 plenary, the event showcased the results of international cooperation efforts aimed at aligning standardisation priorities with key partner regions, including Canada, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, across six strategic technology domains. The programme highlighted the tangible impacts achieved through global collaboration and explored how these outcomes could support European standardisation activities.
The event also presented plans for sustaining and expanding the project’s legacy beyond its completion. Bringing together experts in standardisation, digital technologies, interoperability, and sustainability, it provided a valuable opportunity for participants to engage with the international community, exchange knowledge and experiences, and contribute to discussions on the future development of standards for emerging technologies.
Throughout the project, AIOTI played a leading role in the European Task Force on Cloud, Edge and IoT (CEI-ETF). The CEI-ETF brings together specialised standardisation experts from across the Cloud, Edge and IoT domains, combining technical excellence with industry expertise. The Task Force serves as a key platform for knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration among stakeholders and contributing to the development and alignment of international CEI standards with European policy objectives.
Code the Continuum
The Code the Continuum Hackathon, co-organized by O-CEI Horizon, Eclipse Foundation, CEISphere, and COP-PILOT Horizon, taking place on 30 June and 1 July in Cagliari. The event will bring together students, developers, researchers, and open-source enthusiasts to explore innovative solutions for distributed computing and digital sustainability. Through a series of hands-on challenges, participants will engage with cutting-edge technologies designed to support Europe’s digital transformation and strengthen collaboration across the computing continuum.
As part of the programme, O-CEI will lead the Eclipse Zenoh & Sustainable Edge-Cloud challenge, where participants will investigate how edge-cloud architectures can improve resource efficiency, reduce bandwidth consumption, and enable more sustainable digital services. Working with open-source tools and real-world applications, they will compare cloud-only and edge-accelerated deployments and analyse distributed data flows. The hackathon will also feature challenges on continuum orchestration using OpenSlice and Kubernetes, as well as the development of AI-enhanced Jakarta EE applications, providing a practical environment for experimentation, learning, and innovation.

European Task Force on Cloud, Edge and IoT
AIOTI actively supports and contributes to the European Task Force on Cloud, Edge and IoT (CEI-ETF), which brings together leading experts in cloud, edge, and IoT standardisation. By combining technical and industry expertise, the Task Force promotes knowledge exchange and supports the development of international standards aligned with European policy objectives. It also facilitates dialogue among European and international stakeholders to help shape a common vision for the future of Cloud, Edge, and IoT technologies.
The CEI-ETF develops strategic roadmaps and promotes cooperation with international partners, fostering alignment on shared priorities and use cases. One of its key achievements is the first edition of the INSTAR Standards Cloud/Edge/IoT ETF – PICS Factsheet, a concise reference document that outlines European standardisation priorities and supports policymakers, standards organisations, EU-funded projects, and industry stakeholders in strengthening international collaboration across the Cloud, Edge, and IoT ecosystem.

Women in Digital Summit 2026
The event will showcase the Women in Digital Index and Scoreboard, along with the Annual Women in Digital Report and its key findings. It will also include discussions on policy recommendations aimed at increasing women’s participation in ICT, while addressing the digital skills gap and the need for more advanced training, supported by examples of best practices.
During the event, the Women in Digital Forum will present and share the recommendations developed by its Thematic Working Groups. More broadly, it will help reinforce collaboration between industry, government and the education sector, encourage new partnerships around digital skills and gender diversity, and contribute to shaping the long-term evolution of the digital workforce.

Semantic Interoperability Workshop
The 2nd AIOTI Annual Workshop on Semantic Interoperability for Digital Twins, was held in Frankfurt/Oder on Tuesday, 24 March, and Wednesday, 25 March 2026. All key resources are now available in one website, including the full programme, manifesto, speaker presentations, event highlights, and featured photos.
The event served as a platform for meaningful exchange, bringing together speakers, panelists and experts to share innovative ideas and collaborative perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping the field. Their contributions provided valuable insights and helped advance the conversation on key issues and future priorities.
Tech Sovereignty Package
On 3 June 2026, the European Commission presented the European Technological Sovereignty Package, a set of measures designed to strengthen Europe’s digital autonomy and resilience. The initiative aimed to reinforce the European Union’s capacity in key strategic areas, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technologies, and open source ecosystems.
The package comprised two major legislative proposals—the Chips Act 2.0 and the Cloud and AI Development Act—alongside a renewed Open Source Strategy and a Strategic Roadmap for Digitalisation and AI in Energy. Together, these measures outlined a coordinated approach to boosting technological sovereignty, supporting innovation, and ensuring greater control over critical digital infrastructures and capabilities in Europe.
